Project Description:

Curious about the ants living in your backyard, schoolyard or neighborhood? So are we! The School of Ants is recruiting citizen scientists of all ages to make their own ant-collecting kits (hint: it involves pecan sandies cookies and index cards!). You’ll deploy the kit in in a green and paved place near you and send what you collect to the SoA team. Their crack entomologists will identify the ants and map their biodiversity around the US. Thanks to the many School of Ant participants we’re already starting to get a much better picture of the native and introduced ants with whom we share our backyards and sidewalks.
